Really Looks like a Fire!
I was surprised how realistic the fire looked when I first turned this on.This is a solution to a thorny problem I faced. I have a rental property with what is either a faux or unfinished fireplace: depneds on your viewpoint. I didn't want to remove it,and i sure didn't want someone lighting a fire in it!I had available electricity and available gas, but unvented logs, though heat-efficient, can oxygen deficit a room if one is not careful. Very lifelike!
It looks amazingly like a real wood fire in our fireplace. It's easy to install, as long as your fire box is big enough, and you have a nearby electrical outlet. This "deluxe" model DFI2310 differs from the standard model DFI2309 by having a larger, brighter, even more realistic flame, for a somewhat higher price. The heaters can be turned off completely, for when it's warm, but you want that cozy fireplace ambiance.On the "needs improvement" end, the remote control only turns the insert on and off; it does not control the optional heating elements, which can only be turned on or off at the unit itself. Mine arrived with all switches "on" so I got heat as soon as it was plugged in. It would be better to ship with all switches set to "off."Also, there's no crackle or pop sound, so if wood fire sounds are important to you, this is not the electrical insert for you. Great product!
I'm writing this review because of how helpful I found other reviews before buying this fireplace. I did my homework, reading some 150+ reviews and watching Youtube videos of people's Dimplex fireplaces, before deciding on this model and it paid off! This is probably the best electric fireplace out there for the money (if there's a better one I can't afford it anyway!) I very happy with it and everyone who comes to my house thinks it looks very real (they all knew I bought a fake one so I'm still waiting to "fool" someone who doesn't know!) CSN (the company that provides the fireplace) has the BEST customer service dept to call. Whenever I called, I got someone different and they were ALL very nice and helpful.The fireplace flames look as real as you can get, so real sometimes you think you hear crackling! Cozy fireplace feel with no mess
For many years in the winter months, especially at Christmas time, I have made a real fire in our fireplace to get that cozy "focal point of the room" feel. Which is great, except for the work involved buying the firewood, trying to get the kindling to light, adding more wood when necessary, and of course the long and dirty cleanup the next day. What if I could click a button on a remote to obtain the same result, and then click a button to turn it off, with no cleaning ever required? Well now I can.This insert is a perfect fit for my fireplace and is bright enough and visible even behind the glass and metal gauze doors. While the "flames" are not 100% realistic, they are extremely effective in getting the effect I was looking for. Assembly Frustration
This is the second Trim Kit I have purchased. (Left the first one in previous house). The instructions for assembly are bad and difficult to follow. Just pictures with no written instructions. Worst part is the poor quality of screws for assembly. They are cheaply made and threads easily stripped during installation. It was, again, as with the first kit I purchased, a very frustrating experience to assemble.Dealing with Amazon, through whom I made the purchase, was a good experience. Top to learn more

Customer Video Review Length:: 0:25 MinsYes, the instructions are a joke. After reading them several times and studying the the diagrams, I did manage to get the thing put together. All told, it took me about 2 and half hours. Luckily, I did not have a problem with any of the screws as mentioned in other reviews. My biggest fear was I would run out of them, but as it turned out, there were a few extra included. When I finished installing the fire screen, I could not get it to close all the way. I have about a 3 inch gap in the middle between the two screens where they are supposed to close. Seems the hardware that holds the two curtain rods in the middle is in the way. No big deal though as it still looks pretty good left partially open. You know, I'm still scratching my head whether it's a design flaw or if I'm the one whose flawed. Could Be Easier to Assemble With BETTER INSTRUCTIONS
Well-constructed & does what it's designed to do, but it took me 6 hours to assemble and install this fireplace frame. The problem is mostly due to shortcomings in the instructions.First, there are practically no instructions at all; it's follow the pictures . . . if your eyesight is good enough. Do not attempt this if you are spatially challenged, a novice at do-it-yourself projects, or lack sufficient lighting.Second, the baggy of tiny black screws contains a surprise. Those screws all look much alike, but two of them are definitely not the same as the rest. Those two have have larger threads; if used in the wrong place, they could easily strip a pre-drilled hole (as an earlier reviewer may have done). Unfortunately, there is no warning note and those two screws are not called for until late in the process when it is time to fasten the frame bracket to the fireplace insert. good once we got it intact
I bought this item for my parents.It took 3 shipments to get one that didn't have broken glass doors. It was sent in two boxes but Amazon only sent 1 return shipping label. After numerous phone calls they finally understood and sent another. Very good for tight spaces.
We have an old coal fireplace which is only 8" deep. We could not find any type of gas flame logs that would fit at all. This product installed easily and fit almost perfectly into the space. We still get the look of a fire and additional heat. The heater aspect of it has a high & low setting and is very quiet. Another advantage point is we don't have to worry about small children getting to close to a flame and getting burnt. I am very pleased with this product. Top to learn more
The Flame Looks So Real
Last summer I had our wood burning medal fireplace chimney removed and the fireplace capped. This left our fireplace useless. I looked at gas inserts and gas logs but didnt like the way they looked or they wouldn't fit. Then I saw this Dimplex electric in a furniture store. I was amazed how real it looked. I ordered it.It only took 3 days to come. Took it out of the box and put it in the fireplace opening and had it going in 20 minutes. It looks far better than any gas unit. Love it!
I love the look and feel of fireplaces, but they are very rare in South Florida, where I live. An artificial fireplace was the answer for me. I bought this insert to replace a unit that burned gel cans in a freestanding fireplace. This electric unit is beautiful! I like it so much more than the gel can type. This unit has a very realistic look. The logs are "real" (3-dimensional), not painted onto a screen like some others I've seen. The embers seem like they are really glowing and the "flames" dance realistically. And it is nice to be able to use it without heat if you wish. I highly recommend this fireplace insert.
